 Through lecture and lab emphasis will be placed on increasing sailors’ competency in small boat handling, disaster prevention and RHIB handling. This course includes studies in the areas of: inflatable life rafts, allowance and issues, reports, disposals and surveys, capacities, weights, dimensions, equipment and repair, stowage and handling,. Also included are; survival gear, boat etiquette; honors and ceremonies; aids to navigation; chart plotting; boat boom and boat davit procedures; towing alongside; search and recovery techniques; pier landings; and underway transit. Practical training exercises will be conducted on small boats. Upon completion, sailors will be prepared for the BM rate advancement examination. |
