High Voltage & Electrical Safety
The high voltage safety course is designed to provide the student with knowledge of the planning, tools, and procedures needed to approach High Voltage electrical equipment in a safe and approved manner. The student will get an overview of basic electrical principles and basic electrical safety along with CPR and first aid for electrical shock victims. Personal Protective Devices, specific to High Voltage applications, and their proper use will be demonstrated and practiced during the hands on training. Regulatory oversight, planning and permits, lockout/tagout procedures, ground detection procedures, and use of meters will be thoroughly covered. A field trip to the T/V Kings Pointer will round out the students understanding of High Voltage and Marine propulsion equipment.
