Quartermaster Advanced

GMATS Courses

Designed for E5 and above, and E4 who have taken Quartermaster Basic, the student will explore the topics of terrestrial and celestial navigation.  Areas of instruction include; Charts projections, Traverse Sailing, Relative Bearings, Magnetism, Parallel Sailing, Mid Latitude Sailing, Mercator Sailing, Navigational Astronomy, Celestial Coordinate System, Celestial Navigation Instruments, Azimuths and Amplitudes, Time in Navigation, The Nautical Almanac, Sight Reductions, Time of LAN, Latitude at LAN, Sunrise, Sunset, Twilight, Rude Star Finder, Pub 249 Air Almanac.
