CAPT Martucci graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point, New York in 1970 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Engineering as well as a Third Assistant Engineer’s License and was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy Reserve.
From his time of graduation until reporting aboard GMATS in 2003, Captain Martucci spent over 20 years sailing and working ashore in the Maritime industry. He earned his Chief Engineer’s license and attained the position of Senior Port Engineer; responsible for directing Port Engineers and Vessel Chief Engineers in planning, budgeting, specification preparation, overhauls, invoice negotiating, spare parts inventory, and power plant performance. While sailing as an engineer for American Export Lines, CAPT Martucci took five years off and attained a master’s degree in Mathematics and Education from CCNY while teaching mathematics and coaching High School football and wrestling.
He began his SELRES career in June 1979 when he became affiliated with NR Unit CVCM 104, Elizabeth, New Jersey. He remained with this unit rising to Department Head for the Training and Administration departments through July 1985. He served as Department Head Training from July 1985 through December 1987 in NR NCSO JAX 108. In December 1987 he assumed the Executive Officer of NR NCSO NJ 104 and served there until October 1988. Captain Martucci was selected as Operations Officer NR NCSO CARIB 404 in October and was selected for his first command NR SIMA PHIL DET 404 in October 1989. He has since served as Commanding Officer NR AS-18 ORION 404, Commanding Officer NR MSC CFNORLANT 104, Executive Officer NR MMROCH 0206, and Commanding Officer of MMROCH 206. He concluded his SELRES career as Commanding Officer of NR COMSCLANT 106.
CAPT Martucci is a member of the Port Engineers Society, the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, the American Society of Naval Engineers and the American Football Coaches Association.
CAPT Martucci was appointed Director of the Global Maritime and Transportation School on October 3, 2010 and serves as an Assistant Football Coach at USMMA.
